Our Little Man, Lawson

Lawson Whitaker, son of Kristin and Troy Whitaker

Lawson Gage Whitaker is our son, our little man. Little man was our nickname for him because even though he was almost two, he looked like he was almost three. Big and strong and turning into a handsome little boy, with bright blue eyes and curly hair.

He loved big and was loved beyond words, and he knew it. His personality radiated happiness, joy, fearlessness, and a light that shined so brightly to anyone who came into contact with him.

I’m so thankful and proud to be Lawson’s mom. Thank you, Lawson, for what you gave to me, to your sister Addison, to your daddy – while you were here for nearly two magnificent years. The best years of my life. I am proud, humbled and blessed to be your mom, to have carried you in this body and to call you my son until the day I die.

You are a beautiful soul and made our lives better every day with your constant happiness and infectious laugh. We watched your sister become a “big sis” and take care of you in her own way and your dad and I would catch ourselves eyeing each other with pride at the two of you and dreaming of the future. And now, I relish those memories and make new ones dreaming of you in heaven spreading your joy and infectious laughter to others.

You deserve a legacy just as bright as your life. A life that was overflowing with love from your parents, sister, grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, friends and anyone you came into contact with.

We love you.

  1. Infectious laugh, fearlessness, loving big … these are my favorite things about my nephew Lawson. Him watching “The Good Dinosaur” so intently, with fascination and curiosity, but always turning around to look at me on the couch behind him. Pointing at the screen as he looked at me. Making sure I was paying attention as intently. So intelligent, so intuitive. So loving in his very individual way. That beautiful boy.

  3. Thank you for sharing this beautiful dedication with all of us. Although I did not get the opportunity to meet your handsome “Little Man”, I have been so fortunate to learn lessons from your strength and resilience as a fellow mom, colleague, and of course friend. I’ve said this before, but you have inspired me in ways I don’t quite think you’ll ever know. You have been a source of strength and encouragement to me, when I wasn’t always sure if there was someone else who could understand or empathize with my experience. Thank you for being so beautifully human—it sounds like Lawson was so much like his mama ♥️

  4. I love Lawson’s heart-warming laughter and joy. I am so thankful that you guys came out so we could see and watch him walk and share his love and joy of his surroundings. He taught me a lot in those few days and I will forever miss and think of him.

  6. Not a day goes by … seldom an hour goes by that I don’t think about my grandson Lawson . So special in so many ways . We had a special bond, I knew it Lawson knew it . From those days caring for him as a baby , sleeping on my chest for hours
That little smile he would give his papa in his own way of saying time for a diaper change and bottle! I will always hold dear to my heart all the memories and special times we enjoyed together. Pool time , dancing time , play time , lizard chasing time , blueberry pickin time ,and bath time with big sis just to mention a few !

when we came to visit the way he would run up to his papa wanting a big hug ! And when it was time to leave that little pat on the back he gave was just priceless!
Lawson ,my beautiful blue eyed little buddy, you are loved and missed so much
    And in our hearts forever

  8. Miss you everyday! Listening to you toss and turn in your crib next to our bed through the night, waking up with that beautiful smile and then tapping my shoulder when I pick you up for our morning hug. How you loved to eat! Taking you to pick blueberries and then sharing a blueberry ice cream. Running along the beach chasing the waves but never getting wet. You helped Oma stay in shape with all that running. Watching you and sis run around the house. So many wonderful memories and so much love. We miss you and know you are in heaven sharing your smile with all those who left this earth before you.
    Love you always
    Oma
